Radamel Falcao: The Chemistry Killer

Reports have surfaced the last couple weeks that Chelsea Owner Roman Abramovich plans to buy Atletico Madrid Forward, Radamel Falcao, in the coming January transfer market.  Chelsea supporters are torn on rather if they should support this purchase or be opposed.  The answer is simple, and it is to oppose. Chelsea already have a better striker in their possession and have no need for Falcao.

Coming into this year all the marbles were given to Fernando Torres, and he has answered the call.  He has scored 7 goals already including two against top clubs, Newcastle and Arsenal.  The assumption that Falcao will score more than Torres is absolutely absurd.  Torres fits this new Chelsea and Falcao clearly doesn't.  Ever since Oscar has entered the starting lineup, Chelsea have looked the most formidable side in the Premier League, and that attack is led by Fernando Torres.

Radamel Falcao has a certain playing style that isn't common with center forwards.  He loves to have the ball and wants it at all times.  With the midfield combo of Eden Hazard, Juan Mata and Oscar, he simply won't fit.  Mata, Hazard and Oscar all require more possession than anyone on the pitch, and they love to pass it between each other.  Bring Falcao in and the chemistry in the midfield could be torn apart.  Chelsea's midfield monster's require a one touch finisher and that is exactly what Torres is.  He loves to hit shots first touch or take a simple touch to find a shot.  Falcao will not fit at Chelsea and Roman Abramovich will make a huge mistake in buying him.  This purchase could jeopardize the career of all of Chelsea's forwards and also the lovely football the whole squad has been playing this year.  The Blues are a happy family at the moment and Falcao could tear it all apart.

  1. You know what? I think Falcao would totally destroy every single step forward that Torres has made in these months.
I can't help but think that if we buy him, it would be a huge blow to Torres' ego. He's had to fight for a place in the starting 11 for too long and his confidence suffered a lot from that. It would be sad for him to go through the same thing once again.
Am I biased for wanting El Nino to finally enjoy his life at Chelsea without USELESS complications?

I also imagine the comments people would make if Falcao scores even just a single goal for Chelsea: they would start saying that he is a better player than Torres because he settled in quickly, etc... and they won't even consider the fact that when Torres arrived, the team was very different from today's. There was Drogba, and Drogba was such an amazing and important player that it was only natural for Torres to be overshadowed by his presence. Now if Falcao comes and scores (with those AMAZING midfielders we have now), it won't prove much to me. Though, people and the press will only consider it as an occasion to bring Torres down once again.

No player is bigger than the club, but the team right now works so well that I feel entitled to worry about our striker's level of confidence in the coming few months, and to disagree with those who desperately want Falcao to join to inflate their egos.
